Plein Air Painting/Drawing Event
Tuesday morning, July 23rd, 9:30-12:00 noon
Encore! Mt. Morris guests (anyone interested in learning about plein air painting/drawing) and Eagle Nest Art Group’s Plein Air Interest Group. Experienced plein air artists will assist guests in getting started and learning the process.
Sharon and Stan Asp’s home and farm, 7782 West Route 64, west of Mt. Morris on north side of highway.
Long lane. House may not be visible from the highway due to tall corn. Watch for sign. Home is Historic Italianate architecture, limestone, built in 1858.
Beautiful gardens too.
If you’d like to paint, bring your acrylic/oil/watercolor paints, an easel, and a chair/stool. If you’d like to draw, bring a pencil or charcoal, a chair and sketch pad. Lap pads to hold your sketch paper will be provided. You may also want to bring a camera to take pictures of additional artwork ideas to be completed in the future.
What is plein air painting/drawing? The artist chooses a spot to paint or draw in a prescribed period of time. 10% of the artwork can be completed at home afterwards, but to be considered a plein air piece, 90% of it is completed in 2.5 hours.
